“C.A.J. Artist In Residence Program”

The Contemporary Art Japan (C.A.J.) Artists in Residence Program was established in 2011 supported by two Saitama Prefecture cultural promotion foundations (*).
This program runs three projects a year, inviting two artists and one critic for each. In these projects which continue for a month, the participants are offered accommodation with studios to create their work and have close discussions about art. An exhibition will be held at the gallery of the Museum of Modern Art, Saitama (MOMAS) or PLAZA NORTH Saitama city Gallery at the end with the works created by two artists and texts will be written for the exhibition by a critic based on the dialogue that takes place during the residency.
The C.A.J. committee members are selecting artists and critics for the several upcoming projects until a public application system is ready.
Meanwhile, artists are invited from Mexico, the United States, China, Singapore, and Cuba- following the first project with Japanese artists.
